PRIME: FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT

When a PRIME provider is unsure of a patient’s capabilities or has difficulty translating medical impairment into functional limitations, it is recommended that a functional capacity assessment be performed.

Functional Capacity Assessment’s objectively monitor activities related to the capabilities and limitations of a person’s job.  Testing includes gaining knowledge of a brief medical history, a physical examination and a series of  functional assessments related to posture, flexibility, range of motion, strength, endurance, dexterity, coordination and consistency of performance.  If a job demand analysis evaluation has been previously performed, PRIME will work to modify an individual functional capacity assessment to include task-specific measurement parameters.

At the conclusion of the functional capacity assessment process, a report outlining the patient’s work capabilities and limitations (relative to the job demand analysis) and providing rehabilitation recommendations will be provided by the PRIME provider.
